Second Orange

The Power of Simplicity

Martine Goulmy

A bundle of kangaroo paw stems glows in warm orange light, their velvety texture captured in a dramatic radiance. The flowers rise from a dark glass vase like fiery flames, their forms enhanced by the contrast with the intensely orange background. The composition radiates warmth, vibrancy, and an almost tangible energy. The strength of this image lies in its simplicity. The repetition of forms and the harmony between the rich tones create a timeless and balanced still life. The kangaroo paw, with its unique shape and texture, highlights the beauty of natural imperfection and detail. “Second Orange” invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the subtle splendor of nature, captured in an intimate and refined composition. My passion for photography began at a young age. At twelve, my parents gave me my first camera, and that gift marked the start of a lifelong journey. With that camera in hand, I discovered how to capture the world around me and tell my own stories. Since then, my camera has been my constant companion, and I have continuously refined my perspective. I am self-taught and have developed my own style by experimenting and following my curiosity.
